Maximum No. of Aadhar Card enrolments
in Andhra Pradesh
i. Maximum
number of over five crore 36 lakh
Aadhaar cards have been enrolled in Andhra Pradesh while the most populous
State Uttar Pradesh lagged behind with just over one crore cards.
iii. Replying to a question in
the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for
Planning Rajeev Shukla give this information.
NOTE: A
sum of around 2370 crore rupees has
been spent by the Unique Identification Authority of India, UIDAI in generating
and issue of Aadhaar cards since the scheme was implemented four years ago.

Selected For Parliamentarian Award
i. The
Parliamentary Award Committee selected BJP
leader Arun Jaitley, Congress MP Karan Singh and JD(U) MP Sharad Yadav for
Outstanding Parliamentarian Award for 2010,
2011 and 2012 respectively.
ii. Arun
Jaitley and Karan Singh are the members of
Rajya Sabha from Gujarat and Delhi respectively. Sharad Yadav, on the other
hand is a member of Lok Sabha from
Madhepura, Bihar.
iii. The Award
Committee which was headed by the Speaker of Lok Sabha, Meira Kumar,
recommended these names, which were accepted by executive committee of the
Indian Parliamentary Group on 6 March 2013.

Kapil Sibal launched Electronics
Project Proposal System e-PPS
i. Union
Minister Kapil Sibal on 6 March 2013 launched the Electronics Project Proposal
System (e-PPS), developed by the Department of Electronics and Information
Technology.
ii. The e-PPS system will
initially start as a pilot project.
Electronic Project Proposal System (e-PPS)
i. It is a web based system
in form of solution to fund the R&D projects, which will start from online
submission of the project proposal for funds and will monitor as well as manage
the funded projects.

Impact of the e-PPS System
i. The system would create a
One-Go-Dash-Board to monitor the projects from its initiation to completion

replace existing manual system of project funding in which the project investigators
submit hard copies of R&D proposals, which are presented to a Working Group
and based on the recommendations of the Working Group the proposals are further
processed.
5.
Cabinet approves Bill for time-bound services to
citizens
i. The govt on Thursday gave its nod to a Bill aimed at
providing time-bound delivery of services like passports, pensions and birth
and death certificates, among others, to the citizens.
ii. The Right of Citizens for Time-Bound Delivery of Goods and Services and
Redressal of their Grievances Bill, 2011, was approved by Union Cabinet at a
meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New
Delhi on Thursday.
iii. The Bill envisages penalty of upto Rs 50,000 against a government official failing to provide his
or her duties.
iv. It lays down an obligation upon every public authority to publish
citizen's charter, stating therein the time within which specified goods shall
be supplied and services be rendered and provides for a grievance redressal
mechanism for non-compliance of its provisions.
NOTE: All services provided by both the Centre and the
state governments will be extended to citizens in a time-bound manner under the
bill.

UN to vote on new North Korea sanctions today
i. The UN Security Council, ignoring threats from
North Korea, is set to impose a fourth round of even tougher sanctions against
Pyongyang in a fresh attempt to rein in its nuclear and ballistic missile
programs.
ii. The
success of a new round of sanctions could depend on enforcement by China, where
most of the companies and banks that North Korea is believed to work with are
based.
iii. The council's agreement to put the resolution to a vote just
48 hours later signaled that it would almost certainly have the support of all
15 council members.
iv. In anticipation of the resolution's adoption, North Korea
has threatened to cancel the 1953 cease-fire that ended the Korean War.
v. US UN Ambassador Susan Rice said the proposed resolution, to be voted on
at 1500 GMT, would impose some of the strongest sanctions ever ordered by the
United Nations.

Expo Starts in Jalandhar:
i. The five-day Indo-Pak International
Trade Expo, IPEX-13 has started in Jalandhar, today.
ii. Organised by PHD Chamber, Punjab in
coordination with The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce & Industry, about 150
exhibitors from Pakistan besides from India have displayed their items
including handicrafts, wooden furniture, home appliances, kabuli dry fruits
ect. T
iii. The expo would help in promoting
bilateral trade among the two neighbouring countries.

India Ranked Third on the
List of Spam Spewing Nation in the World
i. India
ranked third on list of countries which distribute spam all over the world,
after US and China, as per the new
report of SophosLabs. SophosLabs is
the Sophos’s global network of threat analysis centres.
ii. In the study, US was single highest ranking country, but Asia
ranked at number 1 position in the list of the continents with 36.6 percent of
overall spam of the world. US sent 18.3 percent of the junk emails overall in
the world.
iii. China and India took second
and third positions respectively with 8.2 percent and 4.2 percent of the spam
of the world.
NOTE: In order to
prevent spamming, the PC users can keep the anti-virus software updated and
regularly run the malware checks. Apart from this, updating passwords regularly
can also help.

Airtel launches free roaming scheme in 5 states
i. Bharti Airtel on Tuesday launched a new
roaming scheme for its prepaid customers in Delhi which will enable them
to receive free incoming calls in five states
ii. Airtel prepaid mobile customers can now get up to 30
days of free incoming calls while travelling to Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar

iii. Airtel's Delhi customer at present are charged Re 1 for incoming calls,

Myanmar defeated India in the final Football qualifier clash in Yangon,
i. India’s
hopes of making the 2014 AFC Challenge
Cup suffered a huge set-back, as they were beaten 1-0 by Myanmar in the final Football qualifier clash in Yangon,
Myanmar today.
ii. The
loss means India will now have to wait for the results in other groups, to see
if they make the 2014 main edition as one of the two best group runner-ups, as
Myanmar took the automatic slot in Group A.
